Tribute to Xiao Shu
Sunday, 2. December 2007, 07:15
It's been a week since the passing of Xiao Shu. He was our 15 month old cerebral palsy baby. He was in the process of having his file sent to CCAA, so he could be adopted. He'd been with us since the late Spring.
My student worker found him in his bed.
We think he died of a seizure and cerebral hemorrhage, but we're not sure. He had the same cough and cold of the other children but not as bad, because he was healthier and his heart was in good condition. He had a slight problem with reflux but could eat well, only small portions at a time.
Xiao Shu had the sweetest smile and huge ears. He loved to be tickled and really liked to take a bath. Whenever I'd come home, in the evening, he'd give me a grin of recognition, as if he was saying, "I know, that's you!".
We all miss him so much. I debated for a week to post about his death, but decided this blog represents "my reality in China" and death is reality. We do the best we can here considering the circumstances, but sometimes it's just not enough.
